The Middle of the House

Joker turns around in his holiday pants,

making for the cookie jar

left precariously on the edge of the counter,

just within his thieves reach. Mother

is making a peanut butter

and jelly sandwich for her little boy, who

most recently has been resembling a big

girl. She has yet to realize

that the pied piper had long ago made off

with the lad, leaving something else in his

place. Pish posh cries the

Joker, who herself has failed to realize

All that had been taken from him. No one

in or out of the house is

entirely sure who Joker is or why he played

the flute that day. Queenie is in the basement

with her headphones on,

listening to the newest album. She hasn’t eaten

the peanut butter or the cheese in a very long

time. She has realized all

She needs to for a good while, which has been

A point of jealosy on Joker’s part for the better

part of this last year. Pish

Posh cries the larger man in his holiday hat.
